อัฟกานิสถาน “หนาวมรณะ” – วันที่ 26 ม.ค. มิร์เรอร์รายงานสถานการณ์ภัยพิบัติรุนแรงใน อัฟกานิสถาน หลังเผชิญหน้ากับอุณหภูมิดิ่งต่ำถึง -34 องศาเซลเซียส หนาวที่สุดเป็นประวัติการณ์ของประเทศในรอบ 15 ปี

และส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตอย่างน้อย 157 รายในช่วง 2 สัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา ด้านรัฐบาลตาลิบันระบุว่าจำนวนเหยื่อเพิ่มขึ้นมากกว่า 2 เท่าในช่วงเวลาไม่ถึง 1 สัปดาห์

นายมุลเลาะห์ โมฮัมหมัด อับบาส อักคุนด์ รักษาการรัฐมนตรีกระทรวงบริหารจัดการภัยพิบัติของอัฟกานิสถาน เปิดเผยกับ บีบีซี ว่าหลายพื้นที่ของประเทศถูกตัดขาดเพราะหิมะตกหนักต่อเนื่อง เบื้องต้นกองทัพส่งเฮลิคอปเตอร์ไปยังพื้นที่ประสบภัยแล้ว แต่ไม่สามารถเข้าถึงภูมิภาคส่วนใหญ่ของเขตภูเขาได้

ขณะที่สำนักงานเพื่อการประสานงานด้านมนุษยธรรมแห่งสหประชาชาติ (ยูเอ็นโอซีเอชเอ) ระบุผ่านทวิตเตอร์ว่าสำนักงานเร่งส่งสิ่งของบรรเทาทุกข์ ผ้าห่ม และเครื่องทำความร้อนแก่ผู้ประสบภัยชาวอัฟกานิสถานราว 565,700 คน พร้อมย้ำว่ายังต้องการความช่วยเหลืออีกมาก โดยเฉพาะอาหารและอุปกรณ์ทำความร้อน เนื่องจากการกระจายไฟฟ้าที่ไม่ทั่วถึง
